I'm using the the ATI/AMD FGLRX graphics driver for my Radeon HD 4770. Without it, the video output is garbage. However, when the ATI driver installed, I can't get any sound out of the output (the output is analog if that makes any difference). I tried http://www.ubuntugeek.com/sound-solutions-for-ubuntu-904-jaunty-users.html to get the sound working again, but while I pulse audio recognizes there is sound coming from the various applications I have tested, it still won't send anything through the output. For hardware, I'm using a Shuttle X38P2-Pro with a 2.5 Ghz Wolfdale processor. Does anyone have a suggestion?
