Speaker and headphone not working in Laptop Dell Vostro 1310

Dear Friends,

I am new to Ubuntu and I have instlled Ubuntu Desktop Edition Version 9.0.4 in my laptop (Dell Vostro 1310)

At present my Sound and Video has the following applications
Amarok
Banshee Media player
Brasero Disc Burner
Dragon Player
gtkpod
gxine
Movie Player
Rhythymbox Music Player
Sound Recorder.

Recently, the speaker and Headphone is not working. I don't know how to fix the same. I don't know whether there I have to reinstall Ubuntu 9.0.4
