No GUI!!

So I installed UbuntuStudio 8.04 today. I think I made a mistake so that it didn't install the whole thing. For example the whole gnome environment, it only boots in terminal view.
I tried to repair the Xserver in safe mode but it gives me the message xserver-x config not installed.
so I tried to install the gnome environment with the following command
Code:
"sudo apt-get install x-window-system-core gdm gnome"

error message:
"package not found"

I tried to "apt-get" other packages to check if it's a connection error...and it appears to be one.

so first...how do I configure a network connection in terminal mode
and second how do I get my precious GUI?

nevermind I've got it...just reinstalled the GUI from the cd

How did you install GUI from disk?
