The card is a bit of a bottleneck. I think Nexuiz (a 3D shooter should run, if you play on low settings, perhaps with a few medium options. It is in the repository, though the latest version came out in September and I don't know what version the repos have. Official site: http://www.alientrap.org/nexuiz/

There is also Quake Live, which you can play in your browser. Linux is supported: http://www.quakelive.com/

Both games have single and multiplayer modes. Nexuiz also has a campaign.

Just a note. Quake Live is online only.

Wesnoth is definitely one of the best RTS games on Linux. It has several campaigns and has quite a big multiplayer community. It's 2d though, but its polished very well. See you online! (play tutorial first)

A lot of FPS games fail on my 128mb graphics card, so I can't tell you much about those.
I'm a newbie... all help appreciated.

Yes, though you can play against bots by yourself. Single-player mode, just online.

Edit: Wesnoth is not a RTS (real time strategy) game, but turn-based. No fast reactions needed.
