You'll probably have to create a USB stick with bootable DOS on it.
I keep an el-cheapo 2G stick that I got as a promo for something, and it's loaded with DOS just for flashing BIOS.
Most mobo manufacturers provide a DOS utility for this.
It is certainly possible to flash a bios from Linux, but none of the manufacturers want to spend the $200 or so it would cost to hire a contractor to write the appropriate utility for them.
do you have a how to on how to make a dos usb stick?
y mess with the bios if you just bought it it should be up to date why tempt voiding warranty?? and no adding ram does NOT void warranty ask ASUS they where slapped with a fine because of there eepc ram issue
