    GSmartControl : is my laptop hard drive dead? review smartctl output please.

    Computer: Lenovo Y530 laptop

    how Old: 4 months

    can you please interpret the smartctl output to tell if and how bad my laptop hard drive is damaged?

    I really appreciate your help ! Please take a look at the attached report in .txt.

    Having just run smartctl I find my drive has 42 errors in the past.
    Not really worried though, as it is quiet & does not thrash.

    I do however have a backup of important data on my server.

    If you are concerned I would suggest you keep regular backups of any important data. External hard drives are cheap now.

    I'm no expert on smartctl, but all your listed errors have identical details. Two are at the same time & three are at the same time.
    I guess there are some sectors that were unreadable.
