Until Lubuntu comes out, I've been using Masonux on my eee pc. It works flawlessly. This install was more of a test that I grew to love.

It's a super light distro only taking up 1 gig after a fresh install. Which was nice for my 4 gig ssd. I did have to copy over my sources.list file from another install since there were like 4 lines in the entire thing. No access to any decent apps until I did this, really. Overall, it's a very nice, quick little distro.
I also got compiz running very nicely on this machine, too.
I would say minimal install and thenvery tiny install and probably the best way to do it honestly until Lubuntu actually comes out, I really hope they don't bloat it up though.Code:sudo apt-get install lxde
+1 to masonux.
Lubuntu will be coming out. according to the lxde site, an arrangement has been made to make Lubuntu in the near future
isnt it already out?

I am also using Masonux quite successfully on a Lenovo netbook. I discovered Masonux while trying to get everything running the way I wanted in LXDE and decided to try it while waiting for the release of Lubuntu. However, I'm very happy with it. Very light and quick. I may just stick with it.
