    Did my webcam die?

I'm on the panp5, and my webcam used to work on Windows and Linux if I turned it on by pressing Fn+F10, of course, but now, neither OS sees the camera, no matter how many times I press Fn+F10 or restart my computer or both. If I put lsusb into the terminal, it doesn't detect my camera, ever.

    Here is the lsusb output:
    Code:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bc2:3008 Seagate RSS LLC
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 046d:c049 Logitech, Inc. G5 Laser Mouse
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
    Bus 003 Device 002: ID 147e:2016
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
And here is its output if I press Fn+F10, wait a few seconds, and try again:
    Code:
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 0bc2:3008 Seagate RSS LLC
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 007 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 006 Device 002: ID 046d:c049 Logitech, Inc. G5 Laser Mouse
Bus 006 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
    Bus 003 Device 002: ID 147e:2016
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
As you can see, it's the same, and my webcam is not being seen.

Did you accidentally hit Fn-F10? That shuts off the camera.

Here is information about the function keys on the Pangolian.

    Re: Did my webcam die?

its possible, im pretty sure mine did

    follow here- http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1261566

I meant to email Tom for help with it but "getting webcam to work" hasn't been on the top of the priority list.

used to work just fine, now it shows up but no signal. Actually it failed to show up as even a generic camera on the ubuntu live cd.

Ha. I was coming here to bump the topic because I thought it had no replies. Turns out I just forgot to subscribe.
