I love 9.10 (so far)!

Hello everyone. I finally managed to download the beta of Ubuntu 9.10 and love it so far! One definite Windows killer is the intro screen! I was not expecting that at all. Definitely can't wait for the official release! Great job!!

Aliencure,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I am currently running Karmic Beta, and it is really great. If you remember would you mind coming back and sharing your thoughts on how you feel after the final release! Thanks.

I did find one bug so far. Ejecting discs from my DVD drive. I have to right click on the disc icon on the desktop and select unmount before ejecting the disc.

If someone asks you to sudo rm -rf anything, don't do it, and don't run any command with rm in it unless you know exactly what you're doing.things i have learnt changing from Xp pro to Ubuntu

That is pretty odd, I have an audio cdrom and it auto mounted for me. When I click on the desktop icon for the Audio cd and hit eject it does. Are you running Karmic Beta? I am using a Dell E6500 and haven't noticed the same behaviour. Have you reported the bug you're experiencing? There might be others that are experiencing the same issues, you might only need to find and open bug and help by confirming it.

Good so far. Desktop resolution issues after install on one machine. I managed to fix after a couple of hours of searching on the 'net and fumbling through a few dead-ends. And problems getting a wireless card working properly on another, finally resolved by doing the install again, on a wired ethernet connection. Think I'm gonna stick with Windows and 8.04LTS on my other hardware for now, at least they're both solid in comparison to this release.

I've noticed this as well, it will eject the disc, but I have to right-click and unmount if I want to access another disc that has then been inserted. Only noticed it today when busy with it.
