How to install Gfire onto Pidgin?

I'm running Karmic Koala Ubuntu. Installing deb packages do not work for me except for some places where they got working debs. The deb I got from the gfire site, wont work. So now I am trying to install it using the source. Can anyone point me to a guide or guide me theirselves on installing it using the source? For pidgin, I installed it using the ubuntu software center. I'm a first time ubuntu user, only linux experience I have is ps3 yellow dog.

In my signature is how to compile pidgin from source. Within the tutorial is a bunch of different plugins with Gfire one of them. The tutorial was written a long time ago. If the instructions don't work, let me know.
