pidgin can't send im to moble phone

i was just curious, if anyone was having the same problem? since yesterday morning when i send an im to a mobile phone, i get a response of ((10:42:22 AM) Unable to send message: Not logged in) but they are logged in? my wife has xp on her laptop with aol and she is getting about the same message, my father in law a couple states away using aim and xp is getting a similar message, so does anyone know why we can't send a text message to a mobile phone?

Is it only happening using pidgin, or also the aol im program in xp? if the latter, it's a problem with aol, not pidgin

it is pidgin, aol and aim, i was just wondering if anyone else was having a problem or knew anything about the service being down?

is there any alternative to using aol to message a phone or another server that can be used?

so aol is your internet to cell phone gateway? Just wanted to confirm.

Google used to offer this service but no longer.

yes, phones are on verizon and att&t but have always used aol, aim or pidgen to send text messages to cell phones
