    Need advice on motherboard.

I am wanting to take an old desktop shell and upgrade the internals. It is a mATX shell. The main advice I need is a brand of motherboard. I think from what I little i could find on it, some mobo's are more linux friendly than others. I know Intel is probably the better processor compared to AMD, but my wallet likes AMD's prices better. XD

Also I may need advice on a power supply as well because I don't know if the 200w it has will be enough.

I would like to do some gaming, so a decent graphics card would be needed as well. (not sure if any integrated cards would be enough or not.)

    Thanks in advance!

Ok, my budget is limited as I am a poor college kid lol. I'm thinking around the $400 range tops, built. (monitor not included.)

I will be running Ubuntu, and possibly Win7 eventually (assuming it is not a failure like Vista).

I normally stick to free games, such as MMO's or shooters. Most of the free ones do not require a heavy graphics load. I was thinking at minimum 256mb dedicated should be plenty. I could always add a card (such as 512mb) later if absolutely needed.

I have read about cores being unlocked in processors. what are the benefits of this? or better yet why are the cores locked in the first place?
