    karmic broke amarok

Upgrading to karmic seems to have broken amarok.
the amarok and amarok-common version are not correct

    amarok is v2.2 while amarok-common is 2.1

    help??

No no that's MEANT to happen ^_^

Seriously though I'm not sure ._. heh

There might be some kind of workaround... they are planning to put Amarok 2.2 in Karmik but maybe it's just still a little bit unfinished as it's the beta ._.

using a fresh install of Kubuntu karmic 9.10 beta

Amarok didn't work properly (didn't play some mp3 files), then I noticed the icon in the panel was recommending installing some more packages. After installing all these, Amarok seems to run just fine.

Probably should have stuck with Jaunty then or installed Karmic on a separate partition. It is still beta so you should expect some stuff to be broken.

It looks like some of the dependency stuff for codecs has been changed around / repackaged... if you have weird and wonderful extra codecs installed that might be what confused it?

Don't know why but Debian/sid came out day after the release. Anyway, can't wait myself and shoehorned the debian amarok-common pkg and I now have 2.2 playing nicely in a vbox karmic in a karmic host to be safe.
