What's the purpose of making it look exactly like Microsoft Office ? What he's looking for ? Appearance or functionality ?
its just my daddy isnt very good with computers. it confuses him because it all looks different, thats why i was wonderin is there was one that looks like it?
You might want to try gnumeric.
Seriously though, if taking a class that teaches Excel then he needs to use Excel.

If you are doing a Microsoft course then it does pretty much limit you to buying their software because, yes, it is the looks and not functionality (ECDL is full of pictures of branded software and "third item down" brand-specific instructions).
If you didn't require the branded looks, then OpenOffice is an excellent package.
You can get many Microsoft products running under Wine, including Office.
Also you may want to try PlayOnLinux (which is a kind of hack of Wine) or VirtualBox, by which you can install Windows and than MS Office. I recommend you to watch this how-to-video.
