Question Sound in GNOME apps, but not in KDE4.x apps...

SITUATION: I recently installed KDE4.3 on my Ubuntu Jaunty installation, it's awesome.

PROBLEM: no KDE4 app is able to play sound. Banshee, Firefox, VLC, Totem can all play sound fine, but Amarok2 and JuK won't play a single track. It's not even a case of the track playing but no sound - they just won't play any tracks.

ATTEMPTS: I've changed my backend to Xine and had all my sound outputs set to prefer PulseAudio as default (this solution apparently fixed a lot of people's problems). Unfortunately, this method doesn't fix anything for me.

SOLUTION: one of you beautiful people?

Same, however, on trying to report a bug or restart the computer after running JuK, program becomes unresponsive and eventually errors out to successful (but unhelpful) crash reporting.
