Wondering if this kind of file sharing was possible...and if so how?

I have an external HD that I want to set up as a share over the internet. My friends and I want to collaborate our music and then have it so we can open it from any computer that has internet access and play the music off it. Is this possible? And if so, how would I go about setting it up?

Sharing files over Internet is possible - but there's some effort involved. You will need fixed IP from your ISP - or a service like dyndns or noip. Then you will need your router to port forward to your server (which port depends on which protocol you use to share).
