OpenOffice formula editor

Am I going bonkers or has there been a huge reduction in functionality in the formula editor since OpenOffice 2.x?

I'm sure there used to be a bunch of options for making fractions and integrals etc. that aren't there any more. Just greek letters and a very few maths symbols. Problem is I don't use OO very often for that sort of thing (my favoured tool is LaTeX), so my memory could be failing me, or I could be missing a package, or the formula editor could have been dumbed down to the point of uselessness, but which?
