Is anyone else having trouble downloading printer drivers from the Brother web site? I keep getting it loop through to their support welcome page (presumably because it can't find the driver in question).
Does anyone know (or have) where to find the two files needed for the MFC-490CW printer? Thanks in advance.

Yes I see that now. It's not working at all. I tried that other operating system to see if that worked and when I right clicked on the "Accept" button and "Save Target as.." it all started to work but then an error popped up saying it could not get the file.
It is interesting that the instructions to download are not aimed at Linux users.......

Haha. I was doing this today. First, check that you need the driver. I went to all that effort and then it turned out my printer was already working. You have to right-click on the "I accept" button and save that link.
It's a stupid site. Half the reason why Windows is still on my computer is because when I moved Ubuntu from a VM to it's own disk I was dreading having to find the printer driver again.

Found the .deb Files on the japanese brother support website. It's not that hard to find the correct driver there:
