Corrupt desktop windows at random times with Intel GMA 950 GFX card

I was wondering if anyone had a possible solution to random desktop window corruptions (redraw).

For example, I open Nano with lots of text and start scrolling down and the text visually corrupts.
Scrolling back up then clears this problem.
Also if I use the mouse and hover over the corrupted area it clears up.

Also sometimes I get missing icons on some tool bars in KDE 4.3 and then hovering the mouse over these areas then shows the icons again.

Its not a data problem as nothing gets corrupted but it appears to be a redraw issue.

I had this on KDE 4.2 as well.
Turning desktop effects on or off has no effect.

A friend of mine has exactly the same problem on a different laptop but with the same GFX card.

Is there a problem with drivers for Intel GMA 950 or Xorg ?

The laptop is a Advent 4213 if anyone needs specs etc.
Apart from this issue everything else works very well on it.

Just for anyone that wants to know, I have a work around to the problem

    details here :-

oddly enough, KDE is alot more responsive and no screen corruption observed.
However glx gears has gone down from 600fps to 140fps yet KDE is more responsive.
