Just as a bit of advice: a more descriptive title helps those who scan titles for their areas of greatest expertise find people to help.

How, exactly, did you download and burn the iso?

For downloading, I would recommend a torrent client to get the best results.

Did you just copy the file you downloaded to a disk, or did you burn it as an iso?

Did you check the md5sum to be sure you got a clean download?

Edit: BTW. Did you get the full installation disks for the "other" OS with the machine? You paid a lot for the "other" OS. Don't pitch the disks. You may want to turn back, and there is no shame in doing so.

The ISO file for Ubuntu needs to be burned as a "disk image", not as a single file on a data disk.

Some tips on preparing a CD from an ISO file that you've downloaded can be found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BurningIsoHowto

What speed ? Sometimes you can get a bad burn, I try to burn them at slowest speed possible

It's possible that the ISO file is damaged or corrupted. Have you checked the MD5SUM? https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM
