I try several times with my IPOD nano 5g (floola gtkpod etc..) and finally it work.

I've compiled Banshee 1.9 (my guide) with libgpod 0.8 and now sync work perfectly

    I'm happy to leave Itunes/Windows.

    I just had emerged gtkpod-1.0.0 and libgpod-0.8.0.
Ipod Nano 5G works fine, everything is good. Except, gtkpod can't find covers which were added in itunes.

    Hello bander013,

the Maverick sources still offer 0.7.95-1 as the libgpod version. How did you obtain 0.8.0? Is there a ppa or something where I can find that?

    cheers,

I downloaded Banshee Media Player and hooked my 5g Nano right up and transferred songs right on to it. No extra downloaded stuff or anything technical needed.

Re: Ipod Nano 5G with linux?

I had a similar problem with my ipod nano 5G under ubuntu 10.10.
For some time, I could add music and see it in the ipod, then some day my ipod would not show it anymore.
Comparing to another one that was working, i found a difference in the "iTunes" folder: 3 files were there in the broken ipod that were not in the working ipod: CurrentOnTheGoPlaylist.plist, iTunesCDB.ext and iTunesSD.
I made a backup of the directory first, then removed the 3 files.
I do not know why, but my ipod 5G is back: I can add files using gtkpod and they show on the ipod !

Re: Ipod Nano 5G with linux?

libiphone should not be required for the Nano 5G (or my patch). however I think we can confirm there is a issue with libgpod copying the *.itdb to the 5G and this seems to be one of the main problems you guys are experancing atm, my suggestion to install the libiphone-dev package is purely for testing purposes as it was 1 of 3 packages I have installed and is not installed on the example of a non working build.
