Guest, Firefox and a dumb user

Hey guys, i'm letting my mom use my Laptop since overall i don't need it anymore. i made a Guest account for her since i'll still need to change/upgrade things for her. she's about 50 and within 1 week acquired 12 windows viruses(no way will i install windows for her)...

anyways, she likes the ADs on Target.com and MSN and such but she can't see them for some reason. i haven't updated in a bit(may that be an issue?)

    any suggestions ?

Maybe enable javascript if not already (Edit>Preferences>Content) and check the Enable Javascript. Might help. Good Luck. Too bad about the windows viruses...always happens.

the windows viruses really didn't affect anything (except maybe take up a couple megs of space)

    **EDIT: JS is enabled...

i just updated the system and restarted but it seems that target.com's home-page advertisement is still a white box. (which somehow is on top of the department's dropdown menus)

Yes, I'm guessing it's a Flash problem. I just went to target.com, and they have a lot of Flash on their home page. Install flashplugin-nonfree from the repositories if you haven't already.

you don't by chance have the ad block plugin installed on your ff do you? that would stop the ads from showing also.

Or NoScript. That will block Flash content, as well.

Does it work in your non-guest account? Do you see Flash listed if you open the browser and type "about: plugins" (without the space) in the address bar?
