HOW-TO: FL Studio 9 in Ubuntu (using Wine)

It seems that FLS9/WineASIO doesn't work right in realtime. The only solution I found was to change the FLS output device evertime it gets kicked (WineASIO to default, then WineASIO again).
But this happens a lot in realtime, which is a pain when trying to make good music...

So I started making a special PPA for musicians/producers.
Check https://launchpad.net/~falk-t-j/+archive/music for details.

So far I have:
-> Enabled Jack for sound libs (alsa, portaudio, pulseaudio & xine)
-> LV2 plugins (LV2 is LADSPA v2)
-> Mixxx (updated)
-> PortMIDI (updated)
-> QSynth (updated)
-> QTractor (updated)
-> Virtual MIDI Keyboard (updated)
-> ZynAddSubFX (updated)


Add the repo by running:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:falk-t-j/music

Not sure who will use this, so give some feedback.

Note: some packages are not compiled yet, they are waiting to build

Great News!

A new WineASIO update has been released and it fixes the realtime problem!
It also will launch QJackControl when you click "ASIO Settings" button.

The source package is ready and I have send it to the PPA.
32bit and 64bit debs will be compiled and available soon

Warning!

The latest Wine (1.1.34) introduces a regression that makes FL Studio unusable.
Updating is not recommended! (Wait for 1.1.35)

But there are good news, as the updated WineASIO is coming
(I already compiled for 64bit, 32bit will be soon in the PPA)

this all looks great i usually have to build this stuff and mod fies for reatime @audio , only problem im getting is this .

Here's my update. I have wine 1.1.34 installed. Jack is NOT in realtime mode. BUT i went into FL Studio and under audio settings, unchecked the "multi-threaded" entries in the setup. that is both mixer and generator processing.

FL Studio runs nicely with MUCH fewer peaks in the CPU. In jack my frames are set to 1024 and buffer is at 3!! Fl Studio is now the closet I have ever gotten it to run as if it were in a native Windows environment.

Let me know if this pans out for anyone else.

Edit: also forgot to add. when testing your settings each time. (this may be a no-brainer) but i loaded one of the more complex FL Studio demo tracks found under projects>funstuff. I used the same track to test my setting with. basically if i could get that track to play "bang-on" then anything would work.

So you just disabled multicore stuff and everything became nicer?
You're using dual-core?
That would be weird...

Yep. dualcore AMD 2400 each. Better performance without multi-threading. Are we on to something here? Does wine not look at or maybe not even see the dual?

this is my point the wineasio is installed , seems to have broken somewhere from 0.7.4 to 0.7.5
7.4 registers fine
i reverted back to karmic same problem.
