How do I install tikz?

Hi, I'm trying to write a latex file and I keep getting the following error message

./deterministic_article_lemir.tex:12:I can't find file `pgflibrarytikzcalc.code.tex'. ...calc,positioning,topaths,automata,shadows}

which I assume is relating to the tikz library. I can't find tikz anywhere in the repositories. I thought it came with texlive, which I have, so I don't understand what is going on. Any help?!

tikz is in the pgf package: sudo apt-get install pgf
