Vote for name for upcoming Ubuntu installation central

Even if software is sold through it, it could have been named differently, say 'ubuntu application center'.
This name lacks innocence somewhat(not a huge issue though) and reminds me of Apple too much.

I also think that 'Store' is not the best name. Call it 'Software Center'. As it is more than a store. (Updates will eventually be there also, but you don't 'buy' updates)

I agree, the name implies that there is no free software in there. Maybe not for experienced users that know about it but we should see it through the eyes of new users. A bad name IMO.

    I agree on this.

store does indeed can refer to warehouse/stock, but it has a tone that implies you must pay.

App-center or variations is much more generic name for it.
I won't answer to difficult guestions.

Not sure it is actually a big problem. Mainly because things like the iTunes/Apple Store includes both free and paid for content and applications.

I can see the advantage of having an easy way for commercial companies to distribute there software/services as a huge advantage.

You're mum, dad, sister, boss and average Joe aren't likely to look for Linux as they don't really know about or understand it but seeing "Also/only runs on Ubuntu" on lots of commercial websites can only be good for gaining Ubuntu users.

Please record another vote in favour of naming it something other than the "software store". "Software Center", "Application Center" or "Software Utility" would be more appropriate - "store", to most people, indicates paying for things.

Agreed on the name thing.Just not appropriate. And does not in any way imply a package manager.Or maybe i miss something here.

If there are plans to integrate a store into this,i would suggest creating a sub division inside the software that says 'store' ,not the whole application itself.

Question Re: Ubuntu Software Store: What it does, and how you can help

    Ubuntu Software Warehouse =)

But I think the name has been decided, so my real question is technical: Can this be built in Jaunty?

I have tried, have installed dependencies, but I get this error: http://paste2.org/p/405102
