CD/DVD draw wont open after DVD+RW blanking

Hi all,

I've been using Brasero successfully for months until now.
A minor glitch I'd like to fix.

After blanking a DVD+RW I get two windows open up.
One says "successfully blanked" and the other says "cannot eject disk as another app is preventing it".
So the draw wont open at all and the DVD drive keeps working ad infinitum.

I checked running processes to find that growisofs is the offending app and therefore have to kill the process to release the DVD.

I have re-installed brasero and CD/DVD tools via synaptic but the problem still persists.

Does anyone have any suggestions to correcting this problem?

I'm running Ubuntu 9.04 AMD64 fully updated on an HPdv5 AMD-64

The only solution I can think of to open the CD/DVD drawer if it won't open is to stick the end of a paperclip into the small hole, and the drawer should then open. I'm sorry it's not much help but it's the most obvious thing that I can think of.

Yea there are various ways to get around the draw not opening but I would rather fix the problem. It's only just started doing this so I figure something has been deleated somewhere.
