seems you didn't read it, they said

they started with 8.04 (the LTS)

part 2 will talk about the recent release : 9.04

this article is good cuz LTS is what OEMS will use and we deprecate it just 6 months after...

hopefully 10.xx LTS will be better maintained for the user experience (not just security updates) for it's 3 year life
