Re: New Android app: Tesla Remote Control

I've just downloaded it after you mentioned it in the thread I started about the Hero.

Its pretty cool! I get a long-winded error from Banshee (on the phone) when I start it up but it seems to play/pause/skip and change volume too -so no worries.

I like the way it picks up album art too!

As a proof of concept its great, looking forward to any enhancements you make.

Version 0.7 of Tesla is now available! This version includes:

    - Volume control can change system or player volume (see Menu -> Preferences)
    - Play-back pauses on incoming call (configurable, see Menu -> Preferences)
    - Players are auto-launched if they are not already running on connection
    - Improved media info retrieval (reduced data resetting)
    - Support for Exaile music player (Hendrik Kaju)
    - VLC set-up instructions now provided on first launch
    - Support for Kaffeine video player
    - More "user-friendly" error messages, hopefully you'll never see this feature
    - Various small bug fixes

Available, as usual, on Sourceforge and AndAppStore.

    Jay,

Thanks for giving Tesla a try, I've added some improvements to the new release that may fix the error you get with Banshee.

Be sure to let me know if there are any specific enhancements that you have in mind I'm always open to ideas.

    Sean

Re: New Android app: Tesla Remote Control

Someone emailed me saying they couldn't find Tesla in the AndAppStore market. It was there, just hidden in a "pre-release" subsection.

I've changed the release flag to "Public Release", and it now appears in the new releases section.

Just thought I'd let you all know that Tesla 0.8.1 is now available from Sourceforge and AndAppStore.

    Features in this release:

    - Seek bar feature (excludes Kaffeine, eXaile, and Totem players)
    - Lots of stability fixes, performance should be improved as well
    - System volume control more flexible for different sound cards

Please let me know if you have any issues or comments!

Question Re: New Android app: Tesla Remote Control

    Hi,

Looks great and keen to try it!

I've installed the latest version but I'm unable to connect. Just shows, "connecting to computer" message.

    Any suggestions?

    Cheers
    Brendan

Could be a number of things...I'll just run down the list of things I can think of right now:

    1. Have you got openssh-server installed? If not type this in a terminal:
    Code:
    sudo apt-get install openssh-server
    2. Are both your Android phone AND your computer connected to the same wireless network?

    3. Ensure you are inputting the correct IP address for your PC (to check right click on the network icon and select "Connection Information").

    4. Make sure you put in your correct username and password into Tesla.

Are you doing all these things?

Re: New Android app: Tesla Remote Control

    Thanks for the reply.

I can confirm all is 100% on the point's above. I lso tested SSH access via a SSH client on the phone and was able to connect to the machine ok.

I reset all the options and tried again, this time I got quite a long error message ending in "Could not find dbus session ID in user enviroment; fi :- bash:no job control in this shell"

    From my auth.log file;
