Do you have NoScript installed? What web browser are you using?

    Re: facebook

I would try through a different browser, like Opera. If that doesn't work, I would suspect that Facebook is just busy, or there are scripts trying to load.

You could try NoScript addon in Firefox. Sometimes waiting for web page scripts can slow your computer. NoScript is a bit of a pain, it blocks everything until you allow, but as far as I know, to run Facebook you only need to allow two scripts.

It's probably on Facebook's end. It's a very popular site and it gets slow from time to time.

Yes, you can get Opera from Synaptic but it's also available from their website. It's simple to install since it's in a .deb format. If you want any explanation, let me know though it should be pretty simple.

If you're looking for the new Firefox version, go to Synaptic and type "firefox-3.5." Should be in the repository. This is assuming you have that specific repo enabled.

I know for a fact the everytime I try to load facebook it is slow. Typing etc is fine. The games on there run slow from time to time. I believe your problem is your connection to them. I think their servers need to be upgraded to allow extra bandwidth.

Trying a different web browser wont hurt but honestly I dont think it will help too much. (I could be wrong, of course)

I believe Opera needs QT as one of its dependencies, but I should double check. If thats the case installing it wont be a double-click thing.
