Does that mean I have both adapters turned on? (notebook is quite hot in the left part and battery lifetime estimate is ~2h)

A question about that fix by Sylvian: if I use it, can I afterwards enable the ATI adapter?
Yes (don't know about the fix, I've got the timeline without ATI graphics).

Thought I'd post a little note here that by combining the skript posted here earlier and switchconf, I can now switch from Intel to ATI graphics quite easily, (just reboot, change adapter in bios, and then i made a choice for intel and one for ATI in grub). So thanks a lot

Now I only need to get suspend to ram working...

Tried to use the fix, but failed: I followed the instructions, but lspci tells that ATI card still is on and power estimate still is 2hrs

    lsmod | grep lenovo returns:
    Code:
    lenovo_acpi 9604 0
    dmesg | grep lenovo returns:
    Code:
[ 29.500233] lenovo_acpi: disabled the discrete graphics card
but lspci | grep VGA returns
    Code:
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M92 LP [Mobility Radeon HD 4300 Series] (rev ff)

What's your laptop model and BIOS version? (I don't really have any idea how to help you with that, but that info would be useful for someone else).

Acer Aspire Timeline 4810G, BIOS version 1.28. What version do you have?

Mine's an Acer Travelmate Timeline 8371G, BIOS 1.10 - one of the replies above shows it works on 5810G as well, so I would be highly sure it works on your hardware, but as of now can't think of any reason why it doesn't.

Can this be caused by kernel version?

Hmm, yeh - some idea is better than none. My kernel is 2.6.31 I think (latest on karmic beta).

Version 1.13 of BIOS for Acer Travelmate Timeline 8371G is now available on Acer's support website.

I'm currently doing some critical work on my laptop, so can't take the risk of messing it up right now. If anyone is willing to try out this new BIOS and see what's changed (they don't include a simple changelog!) and whether the new Integrated Graphics options is added.
