Smile Unable to get 1600x1200 for HP 2035 monitor

    Hello,

I recently installed Ubuntu 9.10 on my Toshiba laptop and attached me HP 2035 monitor to it. The maximum resolution I can get through the display preferences tab is 1024x768 but the maximum resolution the monitor can support is 1600x1200.

Is there any way I can change the resolution of my external monitor to 1600x1200? My display controller, according to lspci, is Intel Corporation 82852/855GM Integrated Graphics Device (rev 02).

    Please help.
    Thanks.

Good news: My HP 2035 works with my Ubuntu 9.10 at 1600 x 1200 resolution.

Bad news: I have no idea how it happened. I am not sure if it was one of the many suggestions that I followed on the internet or some OS updates that fixed the problem.

Just writing to confirm that it works. If there is anyone out there still trying to achieve the same thing, don't loose hope.

HP usually has great Linux support, but apparently not for the HP 2035 monitor. It seems that with some video cards and some newer versions of Ubuntu, you get 1600x1200, but no choice for lower resolutions such as 1280x1024 or 1024x768. Ubuntu 11.04 got me 1600x1200 on my Gateway P-4 2.4 GHz machine.
