Asus T91 linux installation

This thread has been extremely helpful with my new t91. I have been trying it out with Fedora and everything works except the touch screen. I tried evtouch but every time I reboot psb overwrites my xorg.conf. Any suggestions? I tried doing

livna-config-display --active off

but then something else overwrites the xorg.conf and puts VESA stuff in it.

I'm upgrading to UNR 9.10 (Karmic Koala) but the touchscreen is not working at all while it was enabled out of the box by Jaunty: any clue?

sudo apt-get install xorg-xserver-input-evtouch

Then reboot
To calibrate touchscreen, do it with no X launched.

I've been using Ubuntu netbook remix 9.10 (Karmic) for a little while now. Mostly everything is working perfectly. I do get the occasional crashes, though. The main one is when I resume from sleep - the system resumes okay most times and I can continue working and saving documents. However, the launcher is unresponsive so if I switch to it I then can't do anything much. At that point the power slider will successfully bring up the shutdown options, and shutdown appears to happen correctly after asking to kill the launcher. However, on next boot fdisk runs. If I try to crtl+alt+f1 to kill the launcher, everything crashes and only REISUB will let me shutdown. Interestingly, sometimes after REISUB it starts without needing a disk check, unlike shutting down through the menu.

Addit: I should have mentioned that the resume crash I described started after I installed the graphics driver.

Thanks for the input billl. I'm afraid your script didn't work on my machine, but it gave me the input to solve the problem using a more simple (or primitive) code. I just changed the following:

The only snag is, the power management icon appears a second time in the top bar, I suppose this has something to do with me not getting the user, but the suggested sudo -u ${user} in combination with getXuser and getXdisplay doest n't work on my system.

Has anyone clue whose display t91 uses? I think of "get-edid | parse-edid" output.

Have you set up a gesture button? You need some key combination in the settings to tell the program when it should treat strokes as shortcuts and not just moving the pointer around. Unfortunately I can't get it to use that little screen rotate button, so it isn't much use in tablet mode. Unless someone has a trick for that I haven't thought of.

I just had to switch the gesture button to button 1 in the prefs.

Say, I can't seem to boot 2.6.31-15 kernel build from the updates...has anyone else been able to boot it? Should I get the PAE build from the PPA's?

I need help getting the touchscreen working on the t91mt. I've included out from lsusb -v, lspci -vv, and lshal in one bunzipped and tarred file. I don't think the t91mt uses evtouch, as it isn't mentioned in any hardware detection.

However the touchscreen is detected and is found in device:

/dev/usb/hiddev0

so that if one does a

cat /dev/usb/hiddev0

and touch the screen there is a response, but I can't configure the device nor does Ubuntu configure it automatically.

OS: Ubuntu 9.10
kernel: 2.6.31-15-generic
video: psb driver
