I have tried resorting to a simple black blob.
Copied one from forum.
Used gimp to make it all black.
Saved as a .jpg. Size should be ok as is file size.
Shows in my edit profile/avatar.
But NOT when I post.
Help!

Have a look at the sceenshot, that may help you.
Note this too:
Note: The maximum size of your custom image is 110 by 110 pixels or 19.5 KB (whichever is smaller).
Thanks.
Used to use the supplied Avatar from forum site.
Thought I'd have a go at trying to use a simple one, before investing time in designing one that reflected a previous title of freelance commercial graphic artist.
It's a long story!
My file is a .jpg 1.4 KB, located on my desktop.
Size 77 horizontal by 90 Vertical.
Will try a .png and see if it makes any difference.
Use Custom Avatar -, selected as in your picture.
Option 2 - , selected same as your picture.
It must be something I stuffed up.
Once again thanks for helping a Newbie.
I don't know what i would do without Ubuntu.
"Previous Microsoft Graphics Basher."

Thanks, it worked.
Finally ...
Well a .png file worked.
Will now get to work on a custom avatar in GIMP.
One happy chappy
