Installing ubungu on a bootcamp partition

I am trying to install ubuntu on a bootcamp partition on my mac. I downloaded the ubuntu 32 bit file from http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download and burned it onto a cd. The problem I am having is that my computer is not recognizing the cd as a bootable cd. In the menue where it lets me choose what to boot from the cd doesn't show up. Similarly, when I load the partition with no operating system installed it tells me to insert a bootable cd and hit any key when ready. Pushing buttons and re-inserting the cd doesn't cause the screen to change. Is there something more I need to do or do I need to burn specific files on the cd?
