Some might consider the way I use my PC to be a tad compulsive but damn, it makes multi-tasking easy.
Still haven't gotten around to trying a tiling window manager proper, though.

Compiz plugins:you set all those windows manually?
- Resize info
- Window rules (size rules)
- Edge snapping (set to edge resistance)
+ a calculator makes it a piece of ****.

I was thinking of a tiling window manager for that kind of thing too, or for a program like GIMP - I usually have my toolbox on one size and my image window filling all the rest of the space on the screen. But it looks like a tiling wm doesn't respect those window sizes, it just distributes windows to a preset layout.

most tiling window managers can define layouts for given tags (workspaces) just make a dedicated gimp tag and set it up the way you like it. I have a gimp tag in wmii which makes the image itself maximized and keeps the toolbox floating above it.

Oh, I didn't realize tags are that flexible. I should look into this more.
