August 2009 Screenshot Thread (thumbnails only)

Not going to happen. Tried latest version of KDE for a week, since everybody said that it's much better than the previous KDE4 version.

For the first hour it was great. After the first day i was OK. After couple of days I started to realize that all the reasons why I don't like KDE are still there, behind the eyecandy. After a week it's gone from my computer, I'll try again when KDE5 is released..

Meanwhile, I've been improving my Openbox setup and working on my version of the Gnome-Colors/Shiki themes for OB..

(I still can't decide between Openbox and Gnome. Which ever I use I miss things from the other.)

If you miss the right-click menu from Openbox, it's not all that difficult to replicate it in Gnome:

I know. But that doesn't bring the minimalist and lightweight feeling of Openbox. On the other hand Gnome has so many tings I like,. Sadly trying to merge the two just doesn't work nicely, instead of getting the best of both worlds it feels something halfway done, not really good in anything.

Perhaps it's just that I've tried every possible thing in Gnome, found what I like, and now need something else to play with as my Gnome setup is already exactly as I like it to be..

That's more or less the only reason why I try other WMs/DEs. Then I realize that I liked my Gnome setup for a reason and always jump back.

Nope. I've posted Arch and Fedora screenshots (I don't use Ubuntu), and other people have posted lots of Linux distros and *BSDs.

Did you try gnome/openbox? You loose the lightweight feeling but you still have the gnome menus and the openbox flexibility.

It does that no matter what. Some odd bug in that single file. (I like that desktop though. ;D)
