3d acceleration

After installing the proprietary nVidia driver, is it beneficial to go to modify the properties of my account (System>Administration>Users and Groups) to include "Capture video from TV or Webcams, and use 3d acceleration"?

I currently do not use my computer to camputer video from TV or Webcams, but I do use Wine to play some games. Will I notice an increase in performance if I do this?

Or is this step unnecessary?

i am new on ubuntu jaunty jackalope 9.04
i have amd 64 and ati raedon graphics
but i am not getting as such graphics and performance what should i do
