the ubuntu response for windows 7

Hey there, just a thought I wanna share with you!

I am curious to see how will the new ubuntu look and fell, considering the fact the microsoft says that their brand new windows 7 will be faster then XP, and even more reliable.

I wanna encourage the people who develop all these goodies!!!!
Make the new ubuntu even more faster and reliable then it already is, 'cause you are the best ever!!

I think they are just going to make a faster Ubuntu, and add more themes. That is all Ubuntu needs.

Ubuntu is on a 6 month cycle, Windows is on a 3* year cycle.
Ubuntu has the advantage of changing and adapting to changes faster
Windows 7 is going to look exactly like the RC version which people can try for free right now, personally it not any faster than XP, but it built to use more up to date equipment like multi-core processors better.


*Thats their plan, which they have constantly broke over the years.

Windows 7 is a response to the latest developments in GNU/Linux distros and they still fall short by a long distance.

In truth looking at the slow going of developing a new theme and layout for Ubuntu that has been promised since hardy I dont think we will see anything spectacular until Ubuntu 10.04
Gnome 3.0 is supposed to come out by then, gnome 2 has been a major stumbling block to the ubuntu theme department as by now gnome2 is sowing its age in terms of the "wow" factor which personally I dont give a crap about because KDE4 aimed at the "wow" factor and for many its not been that good of a experience.
Gnomes future is uncertain, as is KDE's, now rather if KDE4 can become a brand new experience by 4.4 then I can see a great future for it.
I just hope that KDE5 if it ever come out soon after doesnt need a another rehaul.

No one can say KDE 4 is the linux response to Vista.
In my opinion KDE4 still doesnt live up to the promises of KDE3 or Gnome2, too much loss of functionality in favor of flashy looks and effects.
Granted KDE 4.3 is shaping up nicely but I still feel it somewhat lags in features still.
But KDE 4 is not down for the count, I just feel that only now its starting to live up to the potential that its developers wanted to deliver.

It was to Windows 7, it felt like a race to get unproven Windows 7 UI features before Windows 7 does rather than an evolutionary step.
