(SOLVED) Dell Latitude D420 -> internal GSM/UMTS Modem

    Hello,

my D420 has a built-in Modem with UMTS Support. I installed my SIM-Card, but couldn't find out, how to connect to the internet using the internal Modem. Either Network-Manager nor wicd couldn't detect the Device.

I figured out, that i have to buy the WWAN-Card from Dell separetly, because it isn't supplied by default with this subnotebook.

I'm in the same situation and would appreciate if you could share whether the add-on card from Dell worked or not. I'm pulling my hair out with the USB 3G modem that the company provided and might want to ask for a built-in card instead, if it works.

    Thanks,
    Peter

    Bought on ebay:

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1709150076...#ht_500wt_1124

    Code:
    m@Dell:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 0930:1302 Toshiba Corp. Wireless Broadband (3G HSDPA) SM-Bus Minicard Status Port
Works out of the box! Stronger signal than through mobile phone.
    (I run Debian Wheezy)
