Thumbs down Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse: Wheel Scroll Issue

I am using a Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse 2.0 on Ubuntu Jaunty.
The system recognizes the mouse, but the center wheel is not working (i.e. the scroll function does not work, while other functions work fine).
How can I configure to let the scrolling function work?

    I resolved the issue somehow.
When I plug in the mouth via USB port (not via PS/2 port), the scrolling function works. It seems PS/2 connection does not support the center wheel.

It did in previous versions, but I tried a USB wireless mouse, and voila!!! Scroll mousing active. Thanks.

Re: Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse: Wheel Scroll Issue

I use ubuntu 10. With the microsoft optical mouse 2000 (wireless) doesn't work this option. Also changing of usb ports for the wireless adapter doesn't seem to work. The scroll of the mouse reacts too bad.
    (battery ok)
    Any suggestions ?

Re: Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse: Wheel Scroll Issue

Users of this forum may be wondering if the Microsoft Wireless Mouse 2000 is FULLY functional with UBUNTU 12.04 . The answer is yes.
As of the date of posting this, I bought the mouse and installed the batteries into it. I installed the receiver onto my usb hub (the digital satellite by Sauder) and turned the mouse power on on the bottom of the mouse.

Then I touched my keyboard to wake Ubuntu up from its <suspend> state. After looking through the forums, I brought up a saved Libre Office Calc spreadsheet. Pushing the wheel to the right scrolled to the right, and pushing it left scrolled back. Rotating the scroll wheel downwards went down the sheet, and upwards went up again. No Intellipoint drivers were needed, it just worked in Ubuntu 12.04. I will try it also in 12.10, but I don't like that version as well.

Compared to my old Logitech MX-510, the MS Wireless 2000 is very smooth and responsive. Which just goes to show that they are a pretty good hardware company, much better with the hardware than the software.
