I was just thinking about the default look'n'feel that comes with Ubuntu. While it's OK, I think that it could be better. In fact, I think there were times when it was. For example:
I really like the Hardy Heron background, the Intrepid gdm theme, and the Gutsy (I think it was Gutsy) login sound. Out of the Ubuntu artwork I've seen so far, that's the best.
But, since I was introduced to Ubuntu when Intrepid was around, I'd like to hear what others who have been around for quite a a bit longer think. What was the best look'n'feel Ubuntu has ever had?
I hear a lot of people saying that the Ubuntu "orange & brown" color palette was a bad idea. I'd have to disagree. My current theme uses that pallete, and I think it's beautiful. It just has not been done correctly. Right now I'm using Shiki Colors Human/Gnome Colors Human with a Hardy background. (screenshot attached) What do you guys think about the colors?
Obviously this is going to be an opinionated thread. Keep that in mind when posting.
EDIT: Hmm, should this go in the Ubuntu artwork section? If so, would somebody please move me? Thank you.
