When should I expect to see a notice about an Update/upgrade to Firefox 3.5?
I tried to get the 3.5 beta unsuccessfully and I am afraid that I whacked something.

I wrote my first shell script in 5 minutes, it took me a day to figure out you needed to put a . in front of it to get it to execute.
To get the beta from synaptic just use synaptic or in terminal type:-
or in firefox address barCode:sudo apt-get install firefox-3.5
apt://firefox-3.5
The new version is available if you install firefox-3.5. It will keep the old version, and will not include the official Firefox branding. This means it will be named Shiretoko, but don't worry about it. If you really don't like the Shiretoko name, then try reading http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/firefox , but I don't recommend it.
I don't know, and it probably also depends on which version you're running.
I suggest that you uninstall Firefox, and then install whatever is available through Synaptic Package Manager. That way you can 'unwack' what you wacked.
