I just tried to copy a CD to iso with Brasero, but I get a toc file and some other large file, but neither is an iso. How do I get an iso? This used to be easy.

Ignore this. I just found the 'image type'. Didn't notice it before.

change the .toc to .iso. there is an option for that
Monitor: LG flatron w1954s 22", mobo: G31-m7 series, CPU: Intel LGA 775 Intel core duo 2 2,66GHZ, RAM: 3GB, GPU: ATI Radeom HD 2400, Storage: 500GB SATA and 80GB IDE, Windows 7 ultimate and Ubuntu
I unfortunately can not select ".iso" for an image file type. I'm using a picture below to show where I think I'm supposed to be selecting it (I greyed that area of the pic), but its not an option in the drop down list. I've tried installing a half-a-dozen different apps to rip ISO files, but nothing has worked. Is there something i'm missing?
I am facing the same problem... it used to be easy to burn a disc to an iso... but not anymore! I also get many other options EXCEPT .iso.
Anybody help please?

I'm having the same problem. When I select "Image File" and "Properties," there is no file type selector.
Bumping to get suscribed I have this same problem. Anyone reported it on launchpad?

I use K3b. I like it better.
I think it is easier to use
we all have are own options
good luck and have fun learning
Brasero used to work nice.
Using 10.04 here, and the .iso option is gone
I guess it's time to scrap Brasero from Ubuntu, right?
