WM500 USB internet connection in unkown copy of ubuntu 9.04

did any one try to connect this type of modem called "purepel wm500 usb " with ubuntu 9.04 ? it looks like HW USB so some friends lead me to try HW soft or Vodafone USB soft ?
Then i faced another series proplem with my unkown copy of ubuntu 9.04 in try install the soft of hawai usb :

cd /desktop

no such a dir in brief the shell of command not installed with no connection to internet how and how fix wm500 usb in my copy ? help me and share the knowledge .
