    ubuntuforums podcast?

    Hey,
Here is an idea that I've been pondering for a while. How about an ubuntuforums podcast? We could talk about all the latest with the forums and stuff..

I'd be willing to host it, and we could use skype or gizmo to have interviews (don't start telling me that you can't record skype on linux, because you can and I know how xD keep on the lookout for my howto!)..

We'd need some ideas first. Maybe we could have some people help out and write the script/outline..

    Just an idea.

I thought about making one a while back...but its harder than one would think...

That said, I would welcome any person that would like to make a forum newsletter. PM me.

it could be quite good if it where done well.
have you had a listen to lug radio? their show is very good to listen to (although language can be crude). they record with four of them in the same room and some telephone interviews. i think it would be very hard to do it intirely over skype/voip.

i have heard a few other podcasts and not been very impressed.

I don't think using skype would be that bad, I've listened to some test recordings and they sound fine.... Maybe I'll record a test one with the Echo123 thing.

i meant more in terms of discussing something when you can't see each other. with out any visual clues you are more likly to talk over eachother and thats quite hard to listen to. it depends on the format of the show, i'm imagining it as having discusions with several people (its what the ubuntuforum people do best). if you had person A talks about B and then person C talks about D then this would not be such a problem.

sound quality should be ok if you all have good mics. also you might want to look at http://ekiga.org/ (previously gnomemeeting). it might be a bit more flexable than skype.

open question: what techy podcasts/radioshows do people listen to? and what do you think works well?

ssam: we could possibly have some sort of semi-flexible outline..

I think I'm going to just make a quick "Hey the ubuntuforums podcast is coming soon and we need your ideas!" or something..

Also, we would need some sort of intro/outro music - I've been looking around for podsafe music, but haven't been too sucessful... If anybody knows of any music that is podsafe, not copyrighted, let me know!

EDIT: About that ekiga, we could try it, but more people have skype or gizmo.. Plus when I've tryed gnome-meeting it just puzzled me. also: I just saw on their site the ekiga.net thing, so if anybody wants to set up an account with me and test it... pm me or something.

If so desired, I can part take in taking the pulse on the Linux world via skype - it sounds like a fun idea at least.
