    Programming An Application

I know there's no short answer to this question... but how would I go about building an application in Ubuntu and with what program? I'm trying to build something that will access sql server 2005 that will scan products and run updates to their statuses. Also, it would need a login box for users to use. Any places to start?

A good c/c++ book would be great and from there a crash into glade should do it.

    Good advice.
I would recommend learning more about Gtk, and the API before starting with Glade though, so that you can understand the code.
