    Any anti-censorship software but tor?!

There are many anti-censorship softwares available for Windows. However I can't find any for Linux but the slow network of tor. Does anybody know of a faster and better one? These days it is preventing me from using the OS I love and making me use the one I hate!

    Any help is kindly appreciated.

It depends on what you mean by "anti-censorship". Tor is the best and easiest for transparent web activity stealthing, but onion routing is necessarily slow (even moreso because few people in North America are willing to run an exit node.) I don't know of any other easy to setup encrypted web proxies off of the top of my head. However, I know there are a few "friend2friend" or "darknet" options available:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freenet
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WASTE
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turtle_F2F
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gnunet

They will all be a bit of a pain in the ***. Decent privacy usually is.

Out of curiosity, what program are you using in Windows?

EDIT: Also, if you have a friend in the USA you could get them to manually set up a proxy for you. It could be as complex or as simple as you wished. If you wanted to be really simple (and unencrypted), you could just use a proxy (download the FoxyProxy extension and Google around for someone willing to help out Iranian web surfers.)

I usually use freegate and ultra surf in Windows. I don't anyone who can set up a proxy for me, but I can buy shared host in servers in the US. Does it help? What about a dedicated server in a free country?

If you need it, I would just buy access to an SSH server that allows tunneling, then use GSTM (Gnome SSH Tunnel Manager) to create the connection in Ubuntu.

    EDIT

I noticed that both of the programs that you mentioned have Firefox add-ons available. Have you tried those?

Must be frustrating living with in Iran right now, I could barely stand the censorship/restrictions at my school .

I would consider setting up a proxy myself but sadly my server is out of action so I can only recommend you look at free proxies for unsecured access or of course look at Tor again as whilst it can be slow it protects your traffic more throughly than any of the free or commercial options. You can find a good list of proxies at proxy.org, if it is blocked then I have attached a saved copy of one of their lists.
