I am new to Ubuntu and I love to watch movies. I have installed all of the codecs for Movie Player but it won't play DVDs. Could anyone suggest a good DVD player or how to play DVDs on Ubuntu's standard Movie Player?

You need libdvdcss2 from medibuntu to play protected DVDs. It is not legal for Canonical to deliver it in the Ubuntu repositories in every country.
