I'm having the same problem. The LEDs on the sixaxis flash in succession and it rumbles but then i get the same error as andriod2388. The batteries are fully charged and the sixaxis works fine on the ps3.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

I have been using qtsixa for a while now with much success but there are a couple things bugging me that I can't seem to figure out-

1.) When using the mouse emulation on the right analog stick the mouse is always slow and choppy and changing the axis multiplier speed has no effect whatsoever.(haven't tested on left stick yet but wouldn't use that anyway) This used to work perfectly for me but at some point something happened and now its unusable because its just too slow

2.) When using qtsixa with wine the right joystick isn't recognized properly. i.e. with San Andreas I use the "Joystick" option in qtsixa, no mouse+keys checked, and everything works perfect except I can't look up or down on the right joystick. This happens in other games as well. I don't know if this a bug in wine or if there is something else that could be tweaked in qtsixa to fix this. I was using the right joystick as mouse at one time to work around the problem but that isn't working right due to the problem I mentioned above.

Any help on these would be much appreciated!
btw I am using qtsixa 1.5.1 from the kxstudio ppa on Ubuntu 12.04

I was just wondering if the project was dead or not. Because I noticed decline in numbers of Dualshock 3 in the stores, with some of them just saying that it has been discontinued.

the project is not exactly dead, but it's true I've lost interest on it.
I'll do some update at a later time, very likely before the ubuntu-12.10 release.

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

Hello, i have problem with BT connection ubuntu-DS3.
What's the problem? Let me show You.

I have Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with Linux Kernel 3.2.0-31-generic. Version of QtSixA is 1.5.1.
That is my lsusb and lspci:
    http://wklej.org/id/829261/
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_105025.png

    QtSixA found DualShock3 (via USB)
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_105324.png

And PCSX found DS3 (via USB) as "Gasia Co., Ltd PS(R) Gamepad" ?
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_110253.png
(but I can't set buttons configuration, buttons from DS3 are not working via USB in PCSX)

    Sixpair (working)
    http://wklej.org/id/829267/

Led status when connect via USB (blinking all leds [slow])

And now I'm unplug DS3 from USB and try to connect via BlueTooth.

    Starting SixAD
    http://wklej.org/id/829276/
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112004.png
I'm pressing PSButton (all leds blinking [faster]) but a few seconds later DS3 is turning off. I'm pressing PSButton 3 times, no response from SixAD. Forse quit and stopping SixAD.

QtSixA found DS3 via BlueTooth when I'm pressed PSButton but only for time when leds are blinking. When DS3 stopped trying to connect DS3 from QtSixA gone.
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112606.png

Ubuntu found new Bluetooth device and asking for access permission. (when DS3 try to connect with QtSixA)
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112625.png
I'm pressing PSButton again and Ubuntu found DS3 (leds blinking).
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112657.png
    Connecting...
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112707.png
    And failed.
    http://wstaw.org/m/2012/09/15/Zrzut_...-15_112741.png

So I can't connect with my DualShock3 via USB and via BlueTooth. None emulator or QJoyPad can't find and configure device or keys via USB and BlueTooth. DS3 can't synchronize with Ubuntu via BlueTooth. Someone have good solve for my problem?

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

    well, you just need this:

    1 - sixpair
2 - run sixad, like this:
    Code:
    sixad --stop
    sixad -s
While you press the PS button to connect, run this on a different terminal:
    Code:
    sudo killalll -KILL bluetoothd
run it several times until the sixaxis connect.
(That command prevents normal bluetooth from catching events needed in sixad).

Re: HOW-TO: Connect Sixaxis to Ubuntu trough bluetooth mode

    Hi falkTX
Just a note to say please do update qtsixa!! I love my sixaxis pad but have not been able to use it since switching to kubuntu from windows7. I love kubuntu and dont want to switch back just to be able to use my gamepad, especially since the games I use run so well in linux (via wine of course)
If the few bugs in your driver were ironed out so it worked properly in kubuntu it would be an amazing utility! If you are willing to fix it then im willing to make a donation

The trouble im having is as follows: To begin with it worked ok (connecting by command line only, but worked) but recently it wont connect at all. Ive tried a different bluetooth manager, different bluetoth dongle and even a different controller (cost me £35 for nothing DX) I tried purging all bluetooth and sixaxis software and reinstalling too, but still no joy. I know (from youtube vids) that in ubuntu (and I assume kubuntu) 10.10 this driver worked flawlessly, even connecting/auto-connecting via gui. I'm guessing updates to the linux kernel or bluetooth stack must have broken it? Either way an updated and fixed version of qtsixa/sixad would be a lifesaver for me
Please please please please please fix it!!

This may be relevant to the development of QtSixA.
I've modified a bluetooth stack to support Playstation 3 Controllers on a 16bit MCU (PIC24FJ256DA210) using a usb bluetooth module. The controller I was testing with is in fact a Gasia GamePad, it frustrated me for a while as to why It wouldn't work. That was until a user in this thread had posted a different HID Report that enables the fake controller. I've modified my code to support this and it works.
I went on to see If I could detect the difference between a real and a fake controller. Not too sure how well this works but when you send "0xf4, 0x42, 0x03, 0x00, 0x00" over the HID Control, A single byte will be sent back (0x00) over the HID Control. This doesn't happen when I send the rather long (0xA2,0x01,0x00, 0x00, ...) to enable the Fake controller. So I've decided that when I read a single 0x00 byte on the HID Control, I'll then send the enable gasia report, and well, it works.
I don't have a real controller on me atm to test if it works with that but I hope this might help in detecting a real to a fake controller.

    Cheers
    Roman
