Red face <ctrl> + C combination doesn't work in terminal

Hi dudes, I have a very interesting but pretty annoying issue with my keyboard.
On one particular Ubuntu machine a <ctrl> + C combination simply doesn't work neither in system command line nor in gnome/kde terminals. I use an Apple keyboard and I thought that was a problem. I have connected an old standard keyboard and nothing has changed. I don't use any custom bindings or other stuff of this kind.

Please help me to solve this problem, it drives me nuts to begin another ssh or telnet session only because I can not terminate some program using <ctrl>+C.

    Thanks in advance.

    Try <ctrl> + <shift> + C

    Try <ctrl> + <shift> + C
Sorry I didn't read the question properly. I though you were trying to copy and paste from the terminal.

I am not sure why <ctrl> + C is not working although I sometimes have to press it a few times before the process will end.
